We're Back!

The camera (and Mark) has been in Lisbon, Portugal, hence the lack of photos. But they both came back on Saturday (yeah!) and on Sunday we took a stroll around autumnal Cambridge.

These first photos were taken at the library. Frances and I spend quite a lot of time there practicing going up and down on their stairs.

These snazzy shots, courtesy of Mark, were taken out by the Charles River. Frances is intrigued by animals now, but these geese couldn't be bothered to give her the time of day - nasty, old geese.

Ten Months of Bubby (?!) Frances

Frances turned 10 months old yesterday. Goodness!

She took her naps and then we took her to the Thuya Garden for a look around.

We finished out the day with a trip to Jordan's Pond for yet another Popover. The kid's got good taste.

Ten months fun facts:
  • Firsts: Lots of firsts this month! Her first fourth tooth (you know what I mean); first time crawling on her hands and knees; first time pulling to standing all on her own; first time climbing up the stairs! She's also started shaking her head "no," but it doesn't seem to mean "no" yet. It's just something fun to do.
  • Favorite food: no particular favorite but she's gotten more adventurous. She's had sausage and ham and this bright pink mash of beets, blueberries and bananas. Sounds awful, I know, but she likes it and I'm not complaining.
  • Frequent comment: "How many times did she get up last night?" We're working on cutting down the nighttime noshing. We only got up once last night!
  • Favorite activity: "Walking" holding onto our fingers. Never, ever gets tired of this.
  • One word to describe Frances this month: Vertical. She doesn't want to lie down for anything - getting her diaper changed, washing off in the tub, getting dressed. She'd be perfectly happy if she just was never asked to lie down. So Big Bubby Frances!

Blue Hill Fair

We got ourselves and Frances organized and headed out to explore the Blue Hill Fair.

There was lots to see...

...that I don't remember seeing at Washington County fair, like an oxen pull...

...and clydesdales.

Frances liked the llamas...

...but her favorite part of the fair was my sausage, onion and green pepper sandwich.

Don't tell the Baby Nutrition Police.

Frances and Hurricane Earl

Everyone in these parts got very excited about Hurricane Earl. Ships were taken out of the water. Dinghies were tied down to docks. All for nought, except some great waves in Ships Harbor. Don't worry, Mark, the waves were much further away than they look in these pictures. I promise.

Frances did really well in the backpack, didn't complain a bit.

She was particularly happy to help me with my ponytail.

Ended up being a really nice day, once the rain cleared.

For Daddy

Poor Frances and I had to go back to Maine one last time, and left Mark in Cambridge, slaving away at school.

These are for you, Mark! Frances is doing great, "walking" up a storm and generally being cheery.

Can you see #4 tooth? It's just a sliver, but it's there.

Being shy.

More Maine photos to come.
